My Story

Who am I?

Hello there, I am Yagnesh Modi, a second-year student at USIU-Africa, where I have embarked on a journey into the thrilling world of technology by pursuing degree in BSc. Applied Computer Technology.

My journey began with a deep-seated fascination in technology, where I started off by learning Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, but I felt like this is nothing in the ocean of technology. It was like I have just started off and there is a lot more that I can do. I entered the field of Audio-Video production, where I learnt the basics Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. As my skills continued to evolve, I embarked on a new journey, delving into Adobe InDesign, where I explored the art of layout and design.

Around this time, I joined Audio Department as a volunteer in BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Nairobi which is a global organization dedicated to spiritual and social betterment. Me, having no experience in audio felt like I could not do enough. I decided to train myself for the technologies being used. I invested time in acquiring certifications such as Audinate Dante's Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, and Biamp TesiraForte. These experience did not just increase my knowledge for audio systems, but also developed my networking skills. These experiences equipped me with a strong foundation in live audio systems and networked audio systems. These enabled me to provide networked audio solution for a building which contained over 60 Dante enabled audio system. Here, I've not only served my community but have also gained invaluable life skills including but is not limited to time management and team work.

Today, armed with a diverse skill set, combining the power of creativity and technology, I want to build a career in cybersecurity and contribute to making the digital world a safer place.

As a graphic design intern at Maxpro Infotech Limited, I focused on translating physical designs into digital formats. My main task was tracing physical drawings to create precise digital versions. This involved using design software to recreate and enhance visual elements. I collaborated with senior designers to ensure digital designs retained the essence of the originals while meeting technical standards for digital platforms. This role developed my skills in digital illustration, design software, and teamwork.

Volunteering - BAPS Shri Swaminaran Mandir

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Nairobi, Kenya

Since 2017, I've been actively volunteering at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Sanstha in Nairobi. As a member of the Audio Department, I've honed valuable skills like time management and teamwork. I oversee operations at the Nirgun Swar Studio, where I handle recording sessions for the temple and other clients. I've had the privilege to serve as a recordist for notable music albums like Satsang Diksha Granth Mokshkar and Sant Kahavat Soi. Additionally, I manage live sound systems for our weekly spiritual assemblies and maintain the temple's Dante Audio Network and Audio DSPs. I also contribute to various charitable initiatives organized by BAPS Charities. It's worth mentioning that I work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers in these endeavors.
